Gaza Herald- Gaza City has been plunged into another chapter of devastation as Israel announced the start of the so-called “second phase” of its assault on the besieged enclave’s largest urban center.
Over the past 24 hours alone, Israeli forces have carried out 140 airstrikes, leaving the city engulfed in destruction and fear.
For the civilians trapped inside, the scale of the bombardment is unlike anything witnessed before.
The impact of the latest wave of attacks has been catastrophic. Residential neighborhoods have been reduced to rubble, with families torn apart and survivors left desperately searching for loved ones. “We’ve seen extensive destruction as far as the eye can see,” one eyewitness recounted, describing how those who remain in the city are carrying the unbearable weight of this war.
Medical sources report that at least 12 Palestinians have been killed since dawn, though the toll is expected to climb sharply as rescue workers respond to urgent calls from beneath collapsed buildings. Civil defence teams, already overwhelmed, struggle against time and firepower to save those trapped under the debris. The suffering of ordinary families continues to grow by the hour.
Israeli forces are now advancing in some of Gaza’s most densely populated areas, home to hundreds of thousands of civilians with nowhere left to run. Witnesses describe the bombardment as “unprecedented,” with the scale and ferocity of the attacks eclipsing previous phases of Israel’s war on Gaza.
