Gaza Herald – The Hebron Municipality in the southern West Bank announced on Monday that the Israeli army had displaced 491 Palestinian families comprising 3189 individuals from the Der Balah and Al-Jaldeh neighborhoods. This displacement occurred following the commencement of a military operation on Friday, according to a statement released by the municipality.
The municipal authority detailed that the total number of displaced families reached 491, encompassing 3189 persons. These figures include vulnerable demographics such as 209 infants, 258 elderly individuals, and 137 pregnant women and nursing mothers. Additionally, the data accounts for 32 persons with disabilities and 198 patients suffering from chronic illnesses.
These statistics document the conditions of families forced to evacuate their homes since the start of the Israeli military campaign in these two areas. The municipality highlighted the escalating humanitarian repercussions affecting the most vulnerable groups requiring specialized care during this period of forced evacuation.
Israeli forces continued their military operations in Hebron on Monday, marking the fourth day of the campaign. During this time, restrictions were imposed on Palestinian movement, accompanied by raids on residences and the coercion of families to leave their residential zones. The ongoing actions have intensified pressure on the local population.
The military operation began on Friday after two Palestinians carried out an attack that resulted in the death of two Israeli soldiers and injured three others. The Israeli army subsequently killed the perpetrators of the attack. Following this incident, the occupation imposed a closure and siege on Hebron city and surrounding villages.
On Saturday evening, Israel’s Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant, acknowledged that approximately two thousand Palestinians had been forced to flee their homes in Hebron. This admission confirmed the scale of displacement occurring within the besieged area since the initiation of the ground offensive.
