Gaza Herald _Palestinian activists, journalists, and international supporters have launched a wide-ranging social media campaign under the hashtag #TheyLiedToYou, aiming to highlight the continued military operations in Gaza and challenge claims that the war has ended or significantly subsided.
Campaign organizers say the initiative seeks to present the reality facing Palestinians in the Gaza Strip by documenting ongoing attacks and the humanitarian conditions on the ground. They say the effort is intended to counter misleading narratives suggesting that calm has returned following the ceasefire announcement.
Firsthand Documentation From Gaza
The campaign relies on videos, photographs, and firsthand testimonies shared by journalists and residents inside Gaza.
According to organizers, the material documents continued Israeli strikes on civilian areas and residential neighborhoods despite the ceasefire agreement announced on October 10, 2025.
Hundreds of activists, content creators, and journalists from across Gaza are participating in the campaign, alongside Arab and international supporters. Organizers say the content is being published in multiple languages to reach wider audiences and challenge digital restrictions affecting Palestinian voices online.
Figures Highlight Continued Violations
Campaign organizers have also shared official statistics released by Gaza’s Government Media Office, saying the figures illustrate the continued impact of military operations since the ceasefire was announced.
According to the data, Israeli forces have committed 3,689 ceasefire violations, resulting in the deaths of 1,122 Palestinians and injuries to 3,599 others, many of them women and children.
The figures also indicate that humanitarian aid, medical supplies, and fuel entering Gaza have met only about 35 percent of the territory’s estimated needs, contributing to worsening food insecurity and a deepening health crisis.
Calls for Greater International Attention
Organizers are urging international media outlets and human rights organizations to closely examine developments on the ground and verify conditions inside Gaza through field reporting.
They said that limiting international responses to general political statements while failing to focus on events unfolding inside the territory allows the humanitarian crisis to continue receiving insufficient global attention.
Journalists: The War Never Ended—It Simply Disappeared From the Headlines
Writer and journalist Youssef Al-Damouki says Gaza has continued to suffer without interruption since the war began, saying that residents have been pushed to “the line between life and death.”
In a post on X, Al-Damouki said responsibility extends not only to those who promote claims that the war has ended, but also to those who accept those narratives without questioning them. He added that keeping international attention focused on Gaza may not end the war, but it can help expose the scale of the humanitarian crisis, increase public pressure, and encourage greater global awareness.
Journalist Ahmed Hamdan also said the #TheyLiedToYou campaign was launched to emphasize that the war has not ended, but has instead faded from international headlines as global attention shifted to other events.
Renewed Calls for International Attention
Researcher Ali Abu Rizq said Gaza recently experienced one of its most intense nights of bombardment since the ceasefire was announced, with Israeli strikes hitting multiple cities and neighborhoods, killing and injuring civilians while destroying homes.
Writing on X, Abu Rizq said the launch of the #TheyLiedToYou campaign coincided with an escalation in military operations, a growing daily death toll, and renewed calls for demonstrations and public events aimed at returning Gaza to the forefront of international media coverage.
A Simple Hope Amid Continuing War
Abu Rizq said more than 1,000 days of war have left deep psychological and humanitarian scars on Gaza’s population, with many residents losing confidence that international appeals alone will bring meaningful change.
He said many people in Gaza are no longer asking for extraordinary solutions but simply hope to experience one night without bombardment or displacement, and one day without news of more people killed or entire families wiped from the civil registry.
According to the latest figures released by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, 1,127 Palestinians have been killed and 3,643 injured since the ceasefire announced on October 10, in addition to 800 bodies recovered during the same period.
The ministry says the overall toll since the war began on October 7, 2023, has risen to 73,250 Palestinians killed and 173,751 injured.
