6,000 Amputees in Gaza Need Urgent, Long-Term Rehabilitation

Gaza Herald – The Palestinian Ministry of Health said that 6,000 Palestinians in Gaza are living with war-related amputations and require urgent, long-term rehabilitation, a direct consequence of Israel’s ongoing genocide.

Children make up 25% of all amputees and women 12.7%, according to the ministry, evidence of a civilian population systematically mutilated by bombardment.

Officials warn that severe shortages of medical capacity and assistive devices are deepening survivors’ trauma, leaving thousands without prosthetics, physical therapy, or psychosocial care.

The ministry is urging international health and humanitarian agencies to immediately scale up rehab, mental-health support, and social services to meet the catastrophic needs facing Gaza’s wounded.
