Nowhere Safe: Israel Turns Gaza City Towers Into Targets of War

Gaza Herald –In Gaza City, the last towering symbols of life and resilience are now being methodically demolished. Israel’s bombardment of high-rise buildings, once thought to be safer shelters for displaced families—has left Palestinians with the harrowing realization that nowhere in Gaza is beyond reach of destruction.

Thousands of people who had already been uprooted from their homes in Zeitoun, Shujayea, and across northern and western Gaza City were pushed yet again into further displacement, particularly from the Sheikh Radwan district, one of the most overcrowded neighborhoods.

Over recent days, the Israeli military has deliberately stepped up its strikes on residential towers and surrounding areas. Many families had sought refuge near these multistory buildings, believing their size and visibility would offer a measure of protection. Instead, they have become fresh targets in a strategy designed to inflict fear and exhaustion.

The pattern of bombardment, striking both homes and makeshift encampments, makes clear the intent: to impose “extreme pressure” on a besieged population, creating the sense that no place, whether in a tower, a tent, or a crowded alley, offers safety.

Israel’s campaign to destroy Gaza’s towers is not only reducing the city’s skyline to rubble but also crushing the last illusions of security for a people already stripped of homes, livelihoods, and sanctuaries. For Gaza’s residents, the message is stark: displacement, despair, and death remain the only choices under an unrelenting war machine.
