Dr. Hussam Abu Safieh Tortured and Left to Die in Israeli Prison

Gaza Herald – Shocking updates have emerged on the condition of Dr. Hussam Abu Safieh, the pediatrician abducted by Israeli forces from Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza.

His lawyer, after visiting him in Ofer prison, reported that Dr. Abu Safieh has lost more than 30 kilograms, is denied sunlight, suffers from a severe skin disease, and is prevented from bathing.

He still carries five shrapnel fragments in his thigh from an Israeli quadcopter strike at Al-Shifa Complex. No surgeon has examined him, causing dangerous complications and leaving his life hanging by a thread.

Dr. Abu Safieh, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, was violently arrested on December 27, 2024, when Israeli forces stormed the hospital, forced out patients and staff, and abducted him. Since then, his health has collapsed under torture, deliberate medical neglect, and inhumane detention conditions.

Human rights groups warn that his case is a glaring example of Israel’s systematic war crimes against medical professionals, as a deliberate campaign to crush Gaza’s health system and silence those saving lives.
