Gaza Herald – Iran and Oman have entered a new phase in their understanding regarding the Strait of Hormuz, reaching new arrangements to regulate ship passage through the waterway. This development was reported by the Fars News Agency, which cited details from the negotiation team.
According to the information provided by Fars, the understanding between Iran and the Sultanate of Oman concerning the Strait of Hormuz has been completed. A dialogue is scheduled to take place on Monday regarding the new arrangements agreed upon by both sides.
The arrangements stipulate that the southern and northern routes will be taken out of service following a transitional period. Consequently, the middle corridor will become the main and only route for ship passage in the strait.
Earlier, Iranian officials had announced that the Strait of Hormuz would not be reopened even after reaching an understanding with Oman. They indicated that reopening the strait is linked to the end of the war and the full implementation of American commitments outlined in the memorandum of understanding.
This Iranian-Omani understanding comes at a time when the Strait of Hormuz holds strategic importance for international navigation. It serves as a primary corridor for ship passage and energy transport.
