Palestinian Red Crescent Launches Major Medical Supply Convoy to Gaza

Gaza Herald – The Palestinian Red Crescent Society declared a major logistical operation to transfer critical medical supplies from its central warehouses in the West Bank to the Gaza Strip via the Kerem Shalom Crossing.

Five trucks carrying 111 pallets loaded with 3,284,684 units of medicines and intravenous solutions departed on Tuesday. The operation is scheduled to be completed with four additional trucks transporting 83 pallets of EU- and Red Cross-funded medicines stored at World Health Organization facilities, bringing the total convoy to 194 pallets aboard nine heavy trucks.

The Society said the convoy followed months of intensive coordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross and was prompted by repeated warnings over dwindling stocks of essential medicines needed to sustain field hospitals and PRCS clinics in Gaza.

Funding for the shipment was provided by multiple international partners, including the European Union (ECHO), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the Arab Organization for Relief and Development, alongside national Red Cross societies in Spain, the United Kingdom, Norway, and Canada. The Palestinian American Medical Association (PAMA) also contributed support, particularly for dermatological treatments.

The Red Crescent stressed that the arrival of these supplies is critical to preventing the collapse of emergency health services amid severe shortages across Gaza’s health system. Two years of genocide and restrictions on medical imports have left hospitals operating with minimal capacity.

According to local health data, 103 out of 157 primary healthcare centers have been destroyed, with only 54 partially operational. Direct Israeli attacks also damaged electrical and electromechanical systems, while 25 of 35 oxygen generation stations and 61 of 110 power generators were destroyed, further undermining the sector’s ability to function.
