Gaza Herald – Torrential rainfall overnight and into early Tuesday flooded displacement tents across the Gaza Strip, compounding an already dire humanitarian situation. Civil Defense crews in Rafah reported receiving multiple emergency calls after tents were submerged due to intense downpours.
Rescue teams evacuated several Palestinian families whose shelters were inundated in al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. The territory has been affected since Monday by a low-pressure system accompanied by a cold air mass and scattered rainfall across most areas.
The renewed wave of heavy rain and bitter cold has intensified suffering in Gaza, where more than 1.5 million Palestinians remain forcibly displaced amid widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure. Many families are sheltering in fragile tents that offer no protection from winter conditions.
The crisis unfolds under continued blockade and the lingering impact of genocide, with reconstruction and shelter provisions stipulated under the October 2025 ceasefire agreement yet to be fully implemented, leaving displaced Palestinians exposed to harsh weather and deteriorating living conditions.
