Egypt-Based Gaza National Administration Committee Establishes New Police Force

Gaza Herald – The National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), currently operating from Cairo, announced Thursday the launch of a new Palestinian police force in the Gaza Strip and began accepting applications for recruitment.

The committee said the move was intended to restore public order, enforce the rule of law, and stabilize internal conditions during what it described as a transitional governance phase.

In a formal statement, the NCAG invited qualified men and women to apply, stressing that the new force would focus on civilian protection, the preservation of human dignity, and the strengthening of community security. The initiative was presented as a foundational step toward rebuilding public institutions and restoring societal trust after years of genocide and institutional collapse.

The committee stated that the new police body would operate under defined standards of transparency, legal accountability, and strict professional conduct. It added that recruits would be subject to continuous oversight and regulatory mechanisms designed to ensure equal treatment and prevent misconduct.

The NCAG did not clarify the status of existing police structures in Gaza, though it acknowledged officers who continued serving under bombardment and displacement. Formed under arrangements linked to U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed civil administration framework for Gaza, the 11-member committee chaired by Ali Shaath has remained based in Egypt since mid-January, citing complex coordination procedures through Israeli-controlled crossings that have so far prevented its physical deployment inside the enclave.
