Gaza Herald – Several Palestinians were injured, and numerous civilian homes and displacement tents were destroyed on Thursday evening as Israeli occupation forces launched a series of airstrikes across the Gaza Strip amid a dangerous escalation of the ongoing attack during the second day of Eid al-Adha.
According to local reports, Israeli aircraft bombed the Namaa camp for displaced Palestinians in the Hamad area of Khan Younis in southern Gaza late Thursday night. The attack caused widespread destruction in the camp, including severe damage to multiple tents sheltering displaced families, while several civilians sustained injuries.
Earlier in the evening, Israeli aircraft targeted a residential home in al-Shati refugee camp northwest of Gaza City. The strike came shortly after Israeli occupation forces contacted residents and ordered them to evacuate the area, triggering another wave of forced displacement among civilians already suffering from repeated displacement throughout the war.
In another attack, Israeli aircraft carried out a massive strike south of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, completely leveling the home and land in the Abu Mansi neighborhood. The bombing caused extensive destruction in the surrounding area.
Two Palestinians were reported killed on Thursday. One of them, Hani al-Kurd, succumbed to wounds sustained earlier this week in an Israeli drone strike targeting the town of al-Zawaida in central Gaza. The second victim, Abdullah Abdel Wahab, was killed by Israeli fire in al-Zaytoun neighborhood south of Gaza City.
The attacks come only one day after 10 Palestinians were killed overnight amid renewed Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli occupation forces continue to violate the ceasefire through ongoing airstrikes and artillery shelling targeting displacement shelters and civilian areas, alongside systematic demolition operations both inside and outside the so-called “yellow line.” Israel also continues to impose severe restrictions on the movement of goods, humanitarian aid, and civilian travel.
According to data released by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the number of Palestinians killed since the ceasefire began on October 10 has risen to 924 Palestinians, in addition to 2,786 injuries and 781 recovered bodies.
The ministry added that the overall toll since the start of the Israeli genocide on Gaza on October 7, 2023, has reached approximately 72,821 Palestinians killed and 172,894 wounded, underscoring the catastrophic human cost of Israel’s continuing genocide on the Gaza Strip.
