Israel Turning Gaza Into an Open-Air Toxic Dump, Officials Warn

Gaza Herald – Gaza’s environmental disaster is deepening as municipal engineers warn that mountains of uncollected waste, sewage overflow, and contaminated water are threatening the health of entire generations.

Officials say the destruction of water systems and Israel’s ongoing blockade has pushed the Strip to the brink of irreversible ecological collapse.

Local environmental experts warn that sewage is now flooding neighborhoods and coastal areas, while waste accumulates in residential zones with no fuel or equipment allowed in to process or dispose of it.

The crisis is turning Gaza into what health workers describe as “a breeding ground for disease that could spread faster than the bombs.”

Adding to the catastrophe, Israeli military trucks have been documented offloading construction waste inside Gaza.

Investigations and leaked footage published by Haaretz show Israeli vehicles crossing into the Strip with rubble from settlements and dumping it onto destroyed neighborhoods, intentionally worsening the already colossal debris crisis.

Gaza officials say this is part of a deliberate strategy to make large sections of Gaza uninhabitable, forcing displacement and preventing reconstruction, a continuation of the genocide by environmental destruction.
