Gaza Herald- Only seven percent of displaced families in southern Gaza have managed to return home since the ceasefire began, while the vast majority remain trapped in overcrowded shelters, a UN report revealed.
The UN reported that the majority of displaced families who remain trapped in overcrowded shelters in southern Gaza have not yet returned to their places since the ceasefire came into effect on October 11, while only seven percent have managed to return.
Those people who returned to their homes are struggling to live amid the absence of basic services caused by the Israeli war, according to a survey by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (Ocha).
With people left with no safe and suitable homes to return to, displaced families have found no way to go back to the north, with entire neighborhoods lying in the rubble of their homes.
The UN on Monday said that nearly 81 percent of all structures in the Gaza Strip have been damaged, according to a new satellite assessment, as humanitarian efforts continue amid widespread devastation from two years of Israeli attacks.
