Gaza Herald – The United States received intelligence indicating a pending attack orchestrated by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) against military bases in Britain and Germany. The plan aimed to damage aircraft and kill crew members stationed at RAF Fairford in southern England.
According to Israel’s Maariv newspaper, the US command ordered the emergency evacuation of twelve B-1 strategic bombers from the Royal Air Force base following warnings of a drone attack. The move was executed urgently after intelligence suggested the IRGC intended to cause significant casualties and material loss.
President Donald Trump commented on the withdrawal, stating that they had information about a threat and questioning why he would leave the aircraft there. He added that moving the planes cost very little money and neutralized the threat to some extent, without disclosing the specific nature of the intelligence.
The evacuation orders were so urgent that some aircraft departed before aerial refueling tankers could fully deploy to support the movement. Maariv reported that the Iranian plan drew inspiration from Ukrainian tactics used against Russian sites, involving smuggling drones via trucks to reach sensitive military targets.
Vice President J.D. Vance stated that the evacuation was a precautionary measure to protect US forces. He accused Iran of planning attacks against the United States, expressing high confidence that Tehran continued what he described as terrorist practices.
A senior US official indicated that Israel also warned Germany of increasing risks targeting American bases on German soil. This warning comes amid US fears that Iranian threats might expand to include military installations in European countries.
These developments coincided with security measures in Britain, where police arrested five individuals near RAF Fairford two weeks prior. They were released on bail after no explosives were found, but remain under investigation. Authorities also detained a dual British-Iranian citizen suspected of preparing for terrorist acts.
Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham stated that the British government believes Iran played a role in planning the events leading to these arrests. Western concerns are rising regarding potential Iranian activities targeting US interests in Europe, leading to enhanced security around military facilities.
