Gaza Herald –Israeli strikes on Hamid Street in western Gaza City have destroyed or damaged the homes of 67 Palestinian families, worsening an already severe shelter crisis in the Gaza Strip, according to the Ministry of Social Development.
The Emergency Team for western Gaza, working with the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, conducted a field assessment of residential properties affected by the recent attacks.
The assessment found that nine families had their homes completely destroyed, while the homes of another 24 families were severely damaged and rendered uninhabitable. A further 34 families suffered partial damage to their homes and belongings.
The Emergency Team said information on the affected families was documented in the field and entered into an electronic emergency-response database to help coordinate assistance.
The Ministry of Social Development warned that the latest destruction is deepening Gaza’s shelter crisis, particularly amid a shortage of alternative housing and tents for displaced families.
It called on international and humanitarian organizations to intervene urgently and provide shelter materials and emergency accommodation for families left without safe housing.
