Hamas: Board of Peace Statement Biased, Unfair and Detached From Reality

Gaza Herald-  The Hamas Movement criticized an article published by the Board of Peace on its official X account, saying it contained claims that “have nothing to do with the truth” and adopted an unfair position toward Palestinians and their resistance.

The Movement said the article failed to provide a balanced account of the political and on-the-ground developments surrounding the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said in a statement Saturday that, given the role entrusted to the Board of Peace, it should maintain a “balanced and objective” discourse and refrain from publishing material that attacks any Palestinian party or adopts the Israeli narrative of events in Gaza.

Qassem stressed that Palestinians in Gaza continue to face repeated ceasefire violations targeting civilians while enduring extremely difficult humanitarian conditions.

He called on the Board of Peace and its High Representative for Gaza, Nikolay Mladenov, to focus their efforts on consolidating the ceasefire, ending violations and ensuring the unrestricted delivery of desperately needed humanitarian aid to Palestinians.

The criticism comes as the Board of Peace faces growing scrutiny over its role in Gaza. Established within US President Donald Trump’s Gaza plan, the body is expected to help consolidate the ceasefire, oversee the transitional period and support reconstruction, alongside broader political and security arrangements concerning Gaza’s future.

An international stabilization force was also established within the same framework to support the implementation of transitional and security arrangements.

However, Gaza continues to suffer the devastating consequences of Israel’s genocidal war and widespread destruction, with Palestinians facing a severe housing crisis and extensive damage to infrastructure and essential services.
