Gaza Herald _The continued targeting and killing of Palestinian police officers in Gaza points to a deliberate effort to undermine civil order and push the territory toward lawlessness, according to Ismail al-Thawabta, director-general of Gaza’s Government Media Office.
Al-Thawabta said the police force is a civilian institution responsible for maintaining public security and providing essential services. He argued that the repeated targeting of its personnel is aimed at weakening Gaza’s internal civil structures and disrupting the systems responsible for maintaining daily life.
He said the attacks demonstrate that Israel is not pursuing a genuine path toward de-escalation, but is instead prolonging the conflict and continuing its military campaign against Palestinians.
Al-Thawabta also accused Israel of disregarding international laws and norms protecting civilian institutions and personnel.
He called on mediators and the parties overseeing the ceasefire agreement to take immediate action and exert meaningful pressure on Israel to halt the killings and targeting of police and other civilian personnel.
He further urged international actors to ensure that those responsible for the attacks are held accountable.
