Gaza Herald – The Palestinian Journalists Forum strongly condemns a coordinated incitement campaign targeting American journalist Nicholas Kristof and Palestinian human rights advocate Ramy Abdu, following the publication of testimonies and reports documenting allegations of torture, sexual abuse, and inhumane treatment of Palestinian detainees inside Israeli detention camps.
The forum stated that this campaign represents a continuation of efforts aimed at intimidating journalists, rights defenders, and researchers, and suppressing reporting that brings Palestinian narratives and documented field testimonies to international attention.
It praised recent human rights reporting that exposed abuses within detention facilities, describing it as a significant contribution to documenting violations and challenging attempts to obscure or deny such allegations. The statement argued that such disclosures are essential for advancing accountability and placing international actors before their legal and moral responsibilities regarding alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The forum further asserted that targeting well-known media and human rights figures reflects efforts to discredit international reporting on attacks against Palestinians, particularly amid growing global attention to issues of detention, ill-treatment, and enforced disappearance.
It added that escalating campaigns against international voices expressing solidarity with Palestinians highlight the growing credibility crisis in dominant narratives, and an increasing reliance on disinformation and character attacks rather than engagement with documented claims.
The statement concluded by urging international media organizations and human rights institutions to stand in solidarity with targeted journalists and researchers, reject intimidation campaigns, and ensure the continued protection of press freedom and the documentation of attacks without fear or obstruction.
