Gaza Herald- The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has warned that humanitarian needs in Gaza far exceed the capacity of aid organizations, as ongoing restrictions and multiple obstacles continue to hinder relief efforts.
OCHA reported that UNICEF and its partners have partially restored access to clean water in southern Gaza after a desalination plant was hit in March, reducing its capacity to below 20% of normal levels.
Around 500,000 residents in Deir al-Balah and the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Yunis remain without consistent access to safe drinking water, according to reports.
The agency urged immediate steps to facilitate humanitarian operations and increase the flow of essential goods into the territory.
Aid to Gaza hit a months-long low in March, with local sources reporting a 50% drop in assistance and far fewer trucks entering the territory, worsening the humanitarian crisis.
