Gaza Herald- Ruth James of Oxfam warned that the gap between needs and aid in Gaza has become unbridgeable, and despite a ceasefire, escalating tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran have left families and communities facing severe hardship.
James said that “ongoing conflict, economic hardship, and movement restrictions have intensified the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, leaving families exposed, children fearful, and communities struggling to access basic necessities as essential resources dwindle.”
She warned that the rising needs for water, food, sanitation, and protection in Gaza far exceed what current aid can provide, as restrictions, especially on fuel, limit relief efforts, leaving communities facing severe shortages and collapsing basic services.
James said that severe fuel shortages, restricted movement, and ongoing bombardments have made aid delivery in Gaza extremely difficult, yet with partner support, Oxfam continues to provide essential hygiene, food, and cash assistance while working to restore basic water and sanitation services.
She reported that widespread damage to water, electricity, and farmland in Gaza has made aid delivery extremely difficult, leaving communities without safe water and basic services while maintenance and relief teams struggle to reach those in need.
She stressed that the urgent needs in Gaza include restoring water systems, securing fuel for essential services, and ensuring safe, continuous humanitarian access to deliver critical aid.
James pointed out that the residents of Gaza are weary, displaced, and enduring severe losses, and require immediate action to enable relief teams to provide aid safely and without interruption.
