Gaza Herald – The Gaza Petroleum Authority warned on Wednesday that the complete halt of cooking gas deliveries to the enclave could trigger catastrophic humanitarian, economic, and public health consequences, affecting more than two million residents.
The Petroleum Authority said the sector was already facing a 70% deficit in gas supplies compared to actual needs since the ceasefire, a shortfall that has intensified citizens’ hardships.
With the total stoppage of deliveries, officials said Gaza is now on the brink of a crisis that threatens food security, healthcare, and essential services, particularly during the holy Ramadan.
The Petroleum Authority described the Israeli blockade as a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement, calling it an action that magnifies the humanitarian burden on the population instead of easing it.
Authorities urged international organizations, mediators, and humanitarian actors to intervene immediately and pressure Israel to reopen supply channels, ensuring the continuous and safe flow of cooking gas into the territory.
The warning concluded that failure to act swiftly could have severe and uncontrollable consequences for Gaza’s residents, making immediate intervention critical to prevent further deterioration of living conditions.
