Palestine Declares Wednesday First Day of Ramadan

Gaza Herald – The Palestinian Ministry of Awqaf and the Grand Mufti announced that Wednesday, 18 February 2026, marked the first day of Ramadan.

For families in Gaza, however, the holy month came shadowed by relentless hardship. Many spent their third consecutive Ramadan in tents, displaced from homes destroyed by Israeli strikes and the ongoing conflict. Every day revolved around survival, as the threat of bombardment and violence never ceased.

Amid these harsh realities, families sought small moments of normalcy. They hung simple lights, arranged minimal decorations, and prepared what little meals they could. Each gesture carried both hope and the heavy toll of life under constant uncertainty, reflecting resilience amid relentless deprivation.

Despite destruction, displacement, and ongoing violations, Gazans clung to faith and dignity. Their quiet determination to endure Ramadan in the face of danger and scarcity was a testament to human strength, courage, and the unyielding spirit to survive under siege.
