Gaza Herald – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced that a massive oil tanker, carrying more than two million barrels of crude oil, suffered an explosion and severe fire. This incident occurred after the vessel collided with a naval mine while attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz via an unauthorized route.
According to a press statement released by the Iranian Navy, the tanker attempted to navigate through the strait after disabling its navigation systems and radar equipment. The navy stated this was done for concealment purposes during the transit attempt.
The IRGC Navy further claimed that the operation was supported by the United States military. In its statement, the Iranian force accused the US army of engaging in smuggling and terrorism activities in the region.
Emphasizing the severity of the situation, the IRGC Navy declared that the Strait of Hormuz is closed to unauthorized traffic. It warned that ships violating Iranian regulations regarding the strait face the consequence of burning in fires attributed to the “terrorist army” of the United States.
