Gaza Herald – Gaza’s Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said approximately 8,000 Palestinian bodies remained trapped beneath the rubble of destroyed buildings across the enclave, despite ongoing recovery efforts.
Basal stated on Thursday that rescue teams continued operating under extremely complex conditions and with severely limited resources, hindering access to numerous devastated sites. He added that more than 3,000 Palestinians were still listed as missing, with no confirmed information on whether they were alive, killed, or kidnapped.
He further noted that hundreds of bodies had decomposed or become unidentifiable during prolonged search operations, as crews struggled to clear debris amid a critical shortage of heavy machinery and technical equipment.
