Israel Violates Gaza Ceasefire for 120th Straight Day as Death Toll Mounts

Gaza Herald – Israeli forces continued to breach the Gaza ceasefire for the 120th consecutive day, carrying out air strikes, artillery shelling, and ground fire across multiple areas of the besieged enclave, according to Palestinian officials. Heavy bombardment was reported in eastern Gaza City, eastern Khan Younis in the south, and eastern areas of the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, underscoring the persistent collapse of the truce.

The Israeli army also announced late Saturday that it had killed two Palestinians, claiming they crossed the so-called “yellow line” and approached its forces in northern and southern Gaza. Meanwhile, medical sources reported that a child was moderately injured in northern Gaza after an explosion caused by unexploded Israeli ordnance, highlighting the ongoing danger posed by remnants of war to Palestinians.

Since the ceasefire took effect on October 11, 2025, Israeli violations have killed at least 576 Palestinians and wounded 1,543 others, in addition to the recovery of 717 bodies from under the rubble. The overall toll of Israel’s genocide on Gaza since October 7, 2023, has risen to 72,027 killed and more than 171,651 injured, amid widespread destruction of homes and civilian infrastructure.

Despite the launch of the agreement’s second phase and a limited reopening of the Rafah crossing, Israeli forces continue daily strikes and large-scale demolitions under tight restrictions. Gaza’s Ministry of Health warned of an imminent collapse of the healthcare system, reporting that 46 percent of essential medicines, 66 percent of medical consumables, and 84 percent of laboratory and blood bank supplies are completely depleted.

Politically, the crisis unfolds as the White House plans a meeting of the so-called Peace Council on February 19, according to Axios, coinciding with an expected visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Washington. U.S. officials reportedly view the meeting as a fundraising effort for Gaza’s reconstruction, even as continued Israeli military actions cast doubt on the viability of any sustained ceasefire or humanitarian recovery.
