Witkoff Announces Launch of Phase 2 of Gaza Ceasefire Deal

Gaza Herald – U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff announced on Wednesday the start of the second phase of President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan aimed at ending the genocide in Gaza, marking a transition from a ceasefire to technocratic governance and reconstruction.

Witkoff said the new phase focuses on establishing a transitional Palestinian technocratic administration in Gaza, to be known as the “National Committee for the Administration of Gaza,” alongside the rollout of comprehensive reconstruction projects across the Strip.

He praised Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey for what he described as decisive mediation efforts that helped advance the agreement to its current stage.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aaty confirmed that a consensus has been reached on the names of 15 members of the technocratic committee, adding that Israel and Hamas had already approved the Trump plan in October, under which Gaza would be managed during a transitional period by a technocratic body under international oversight.
