Gaza Herald – UNICEF said Gaza’s children were falling victim to brutal winter conditions, after several deaths were reported amid freezing temperatures, heavy rain, and violent winds across the besieged enclave.
Edward Beigbeder, UNICEF’s Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, said displacement camps housing Palestinian families had been severely damaged by storms, leaving children and parents exposed to life-threatening cold, flooding, and collapsing shelters.
He warned that children were facing extreme vulnerability as widespread destruction of homes and water and sanitation systems had stripped families of basic protection, turning winter weather into a lethal threat layered on top of war and displacement.
UNICEF stressed that Gaza’s children urgently needed safe shelter and unrestricted entry of life-saving supplies, including water treatment materials and essential equipment, as more rain and colder temperatures were expected to deepen an already catastrophic humanitarian crisis.
