Israel Escalates Artillery Strikes and Demolitions in Gaza

Gaza Herald – Israeli occupation forces carried out multiple ceasefire violations in Gaza on Friday, including artillery bombardments, airstrikes, and demolitions of civilian buildings. Sources reported that three residential structures were destroyed in eastern Gaza City, particularly in Al-Tuffah neighborhood, while military vehicles detonated explosives near Al-Batsh Cemetery.

At least one Israeli airstrike hit Gaza City early Friday, accompanied by helicopter gunfire and shelling targeting eastern areas. Locals also reported intensified attacks in Rafah and heavy artillery and gunfire in eastern and southern Khan Yunis. Israeli naval vessels opened sustained fire along the city’s coast.

These actions came amid ongoing breaches of the October 10, 2025, ceasefire agreement mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey under US oversight. The violations underscore persistent threats to Gaza’s fragile humanitarian and security situation.

The Israeli military has repeatedly ignored ceasefire obligations, with 875 reported violations since the truce, resulting in 411 Palestinians killed and 1,112 injuries, according to Gaza’s Government Media Office. The continued attacks compounded the devastation caused by two years of Israel’s genocidal assault, which began on October 8, 2023.

Over the course of that two-year campaign, roughly 71,000 Palestinians were killed, more than 171,000 wounded, and nearly 90% of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure was destroyed, leaving the territory in a state of severe humanitarian crisis.
