250,000 Palestinians Affected as Storm Byron Devastates Gaza

Gaza Herald – Gaza’s Government Media Office says more than 250,000 displaced Palestinians were directly impacted by Storm Byron, as extreme weather swept through an already devastated enclave left without protection under the Israeli occupation’s ongoing genocide.

Rescue teams recovered the bodies of 11 killed Palestinians, while one person remains missing beneath rubble from a collapsed building. At least 13 homes collapsed across Gaza, adding to the death toll caused by months of destruction.

The storm swept away or soaked over 27,000 tents and damaged more than 53,000 others, leaving 1.5 million people sheltering in torn, unsafe tents amid heavy rain and strong winds.

Officials say Gaza’s shattered roads, infrastructure, and remaining farmland suffered further damage, blocking ambulances and civil defense crews, another layer of deadly living conditions imposed during the ongoing genocide by the Israeli occupation.
