Gaza Herald – Israel has handed over the bodies of 15 Palestinian prisoners, as families in Gaza attempt to identify their loved ones with no access to DNA testing or forensic labs due to the ongoing blockade and the destruction of medical infrastructure during the genocide.
Relatives are forced to rely on fragments of clothing, scars, or physical traces to recognize the killed, as many of the bodies were returned decomposed, damaged, or stripped of identity, a final humiliation imposed even after death.
This latest handover brings the total number of Palestinian bodies returned by Israel to over 285, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health. Most remain unidentified and are being prepared for burial in mass graves, as the siege continues to prevent the entry of forensic equipment necessary to restore their names.
