Gaza Herald – The Jordanian Armed Forces announced Monday that its air force executed a military operation targeting “terrorist organization dens” in southern Syria. This action serves as a direct response to the attack that targeted a funeral procession near a church in the Karak province last Friday.
In an official statement, the military described the operation under the codename “Jordanian Deterrence – Hamoud.” The statement emphasized that the strike was carried out to avenge the victims who lost their lives during the incident. It further confirmed that the operation resulted in the death and injury of several elements belonging to the targeted groups.
The military affirmed that the perpetrators of the Karak attack are linked to the terrorist organizations struck by the airstrikes in southern Syria. It reiterated that the armed forces will continue to confront all threats to citizen security while combating extremism and protecting the country’s sanctities.
The initial attack occurred last Friday at a ceremony held near the Saint George Orthodox Church in the village of Hamoud. The assault killed nine people and injured 34 others, marking a significant escalation in violence within the region.
Following the incident, the Jordanian Ministry of Interior identified three individuals responsible for executing the attack. These individuals were named as brothers Hazaa and Meshal Zaidan Mohammad, along with their cousin Ahmed Sami Hussein.
