Gaza Herald — In less than twelve hours, Israeli forces carried out a string of devastating airstrikes across the Gaza Strip, killing more than 100 civilians, including at least 35 children, according to Gaza’s Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal.
“These are documented massacres against defenseless civilians,” Basal said in a statement, describing the attacks as part of a continuous pattern of atrocities committed under the eyes of international mediators and a silent global community.
He emphasized that these crimes are unfolding while the international community “stands by, powerless and unwilling to act,” allowing the bloodshed of Palestinians to continue for more than two years without accountability or justice.
Despite relentless bombardment and severe shortages in equipment, Gaza’s Civil Defense teams have not ceased their operations. Crews continue to dig through the rubble to recover bodies and rescue survivors trapped beneath destroyed buildings, often with their bare hands and limited tools.
Hospitals, meanwhile, are operating far beyond capacity, struggling to treat hundreds of critically wounded patients amid collapsing infrastructure, a lack of medical supplies, and severe fuel shortages that threaten to shut down life-saving generators.
“What is happening in Gaza today is a disgrace to humanity,” Basal declared, adding that the international community’s silence in the face of ongoing atrocities has become “a form of complicity.”
The Civil Defense spokesman issued an urgent appeal for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire to end the ongoing assault on Gaza; the opening of safe and permanent humanitarian corridors to allow the entry of fuel, medical supplies, and rescue equipment; international protection for civilians, rescue teams, and medical workers in accordance with international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions; and a global campaign to rebuild and rehabilitate Gaza’s devastated humanitarian infrastructure to ensure essential services can continue for affected residents.
Basal concluded by stressing that Gaza’s Civil Defense will continue its humanitarian mission despite the immense risks and limited means. “The ongoing crimes against our people, met with the world’s silence, mark a moral and humanitarian collapse that can never be forgiven,” he said. “We will remain committed to serving our people until the very last moment.”
