54 unidentified Palestinian martyrs buried in mass grave after being returned by Israel

Gaza Herald—Fifty-four mutilated and unidentified bodies of Palestinians were buried today in a mass grave in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, after being handed over by the Israeli occupation. The bodies were delivered through the International Committee of the Red Cross and transferred to Nasser Medical Complex before burial.

Medical officials confirmed that most of the bodies were severely decomposed and showed clear signs of torture, field executions, and deliberate mutilation, consistent with previous findings of Palestinians killed and detained by Israeli forces during the ongoing genocidal war on Gaza. The victims’ identities remain unknown due to Israel’s continued withholding of documentation and DNA records.

This is not the first mass grave discovered in Gaza since the beginning of Israel’s genocide campaign in October 2023. Over the past two years, hundreds of bodies of Palestinian martyrs have been recovered from areas previously occupied by Israeli forces or returned from Israeli prisons, where detainees were subjected to systematic torture, medical neglect, and extrajudicial killings. The repeated mass burials stand as a grim reminder of Israel’s ongoing crimes and its policy of withholding the bodies of Palestinian martyrs.
