Israel Returned Mutilated Palestinian Bodies Showing Signs of Torture from Sde Teiman Detention Camp

Gaza Herald – At least 135 mutilated bodies of Palestinians returned by Israel to Gaza were held at the notorious Sde Teiman detention camp, already accused of torture and unlawful killings, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry officials.

Documents found inside the body bags, written in Hebrew, confirmed that the remains had been stored at Sde Teiman, a military base in the Negev desert where Palestinians were kept in cages, blindfolded, handcuffed, and shackled to hospital beds, forced to wear diapers, and subjected to brutal abuse.

Doctors in Khan Younis said the condition of the bodies clearly indicated executions and systematic torture, including gunfire at point-blank range and bodies crushed by Israeli tanks. Health officials described the victims as showing signs of hanging, binding, and mutilation.

Witnesses and whistleblowers revealed horrifying details from inside Sde Teiman, describing detainees stripped naked for hours, beaten, attacked by dogs, sexually assaulted, and denied medical care. Some detainees were reportedly killed in custody, while others had limbs amputated due to infection from handcuff injuries.

A former detainee, journalist Shadi Abu Seido, told The Guardian that he was taken from Al-Shifa Hospital, held for 100 days at the Sde Teiman detention camp, and tortured daily.
“Many killed in detention, others lost their minds,” he recalled.
“They told me, ‘We killed all the journalists. You will die hundreds of times.’”

Physicians for Human Rights Israel (PHR) condemned the findings, saying the signs of torture and abuse on the returned bodies “corroborate years of evidence of systematic torture and killings inside Israeli detention facilities.” The group called for an independent international investigation into crimes committed under Israeli custody.

Despite mounting evidence, the Israeli military has refused to comment on the allegations that the bodies came from Sde Teiman, while claiming detainees are treated “appropriately.” The United Nations reports that at least 75 Palestinian prisoners have died in Israeli custody since October 7, 2023, many under circumstances consistent with torture, medical neglect, and extrajudicial executions.
