Gaza Herald – The Government Media Office in Gaza confirmed that the genocidal war waged by Israel has left behind an unprecedented humanitarian and structural catastrophe.
More than 70 million tons of rubble now cover the Gaza Strip, the result of Israel’s deliberate destruction of homes, hospitals, schools, and vital infrastructure. The massive devastation has turned Gaza into an environmental disaster zone, making the delivery of aid and recovery efforts nearly impossible under the ongoing siege.
Officials warned that the removal of the rubble is nearly impossible due to Israel’s complete closure of border crossings and its ban on the entry of heavy machinery and construction equipment needed for recovery and the retrieval of victims’ bodies.
The office called on the international community to fulfill its moral and legal obligations and pressure Israel to immediately open crossings to allow for reconstruction and humanitarian intervention.
Preliminary estimates indicate that 20,000 unexploded bombs and missiles remain buried under the debris, a deadly legacy of Israel’s bombing campaign that poses a grave threat to civilians and rescue teams.
Authorities in Gaza are drafting an urgent plan to manage the rubble crisis, locate hazardous remnants, and recycle materials safely as part of an international call to rebuild life in Gaza after one of the worst genocides in modern history.
