Gaza Herald_ Despite the ceasefire taking effect in Gaza, the ground continues to witness repeated Israeli violations, culminating in the martyrdom of a Palestinian on Thursday. These breaches expose the fragility of the truce and exacerbate the suffering of the population.
While the first phase of the agreement was meant to bring calm, the sounds of shelling and gunfire still echo across eastern Gaza City and Khan Younis, proving that Israel has not genuinely adhered to the halt of its aggression. Gazans continue to live amid widespread destruction and a profound lack of security.
Israel Blocks Palestinians from Returning Home
Abdullah Maqdad, Al-Araby TV correspondent in Deir al-Balah, reported that Israeli violations persist across Gaza, despite the ceasefire’s implementation and the completion of the first phase of the agreement. He documented ongoing shootings in eastern Gaza City and southern Khan Younis, where Israeli artillery continues targeting eastern neighborhoods.
The correspondent noted that the Israeli army maintains a presence in Gaza’s eastern areas, preventing citizens from returning to their farmland or even accessing their destroyed homes.
Continuous Attacks Leave Martyrs and Wounded
Our correspondent confirmed that Israeli forces have carried out continuous attacks over the past days, leaving multiple Palestinians wounded and several martyred in the eastern districts of Gaza City. In Khan Younis, a martyr fell to Israeli drone fire in the Ma‘an area south of the city.
Total Destruction in Al-Qastal Towers
Al-Araby TV also documented the extensive destruction of Al-Qastal Towers, home to hundreds of residential units in eastern Deir al-Balah. Israeli forces completely demolished the towers over the months of war, and none of the displaced residents have been able to return.
Painful Testimonies Amid Poverty, Water Scarcity, and Hunger
An elderly Palestinian in the Al-Qastal area described the harsh living conditions, highlighting the massive destruction of infrastructure, buildings, and shops. The man recounted sleeping amid the rubble with no shelter, constantly at risk of collapse from any shelling or tremor.
Despite the devastation, he emphasized his determination to remain on his land, unafraid of death or the Israeli forces that destroyed stone, uprooted trees, and erased the foundations of life.
Residents in these areas face severe shortages of water, limited access to essential food like meat, and virtually no income to cover the soaring costs of living in war-torn Gaza.
