HRW: Trump’s Gaza Plan Fails to Address Genocide and Accountability for Killings

Gaza Herald – Human Rights Watch (HRW) has slammed the US President’s 20-point Gaza plan as insufficient and disconnected from the urgent need to protect civilians and hold perpetrators accountable.

The plan does not tackle grave human rights violations or provide mechanisms to pursue justice for the atrocities committed during Israel’s ongoing war against Palestinians. Governments, HRW emphasized, must act immediately, imposing arms embargoes, targeted sanctions, and supporting the International Criminal Court to prevent further violations, regardless of any political plan.

The past two years, since October 7, 2023, have seen relentless atrocities against Palestinians, with no pause or justice in sight. The scale of destruction in Gaza and the systematic targeting of civilians reveal Israel’s blatant disregard for international law and obligations.

Human Rights Watch warns that waiting for the adoption of Trump’s plan, or any plan, will only prolong the suffering of those most at risk, leaving civilians exposed to continued killings and deprivation in what can only be described as a campaign of genocide.
