Central Gaza Overwhelmed as Displaced Families Flee Israeli Bombardment

Gaza Herald – The forced displacement of Palestinians in Gaza continues on a massive scale, as families flee Israel’s intensifying bombardment. What began as an order to evacuate Gaza City has now pushed tens of thousands into the already overwhelmed central parts of the Strip, where conditions are dire.

Reporting from Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza, it is clear that new waves of displacement are unfolding daily. Israel initially directed civilians to al-Mawasi in the south, labeling it a “humanitarian safe zone.” But that area is severely overcrowded, with no real infrastructure to sustain the enormous population crammed there.

Now, Palestinians are being funneled into central Gaza instead. The result is a flood of families arriving in Maghazi and other camps, desperately searching for any place to shelter. Many have ended up near the ruins of bombed-out buildings, with no clean water, no medical facilities, and no aid distribution points.

The conditions are unbearable. Families are forced to live in makeshift tents under scorching heat, while others have no shelter at all and sleep in the open. Their few belongings are scattered around them, offering no protection from hunger, disease, or further attacks.

What Israel calls “relocation” is in reality another layer of dispossession. With no genuine safe zones and no humanitarian support, displaced Palestinians are left to survive in conditions that strip them of dignity and expose them to further danger. The world must recognize that these mass movements are not about protection but about forced transfer, a policy that deepens the catastrophe in Gaza.
