Gaza Hospitals Overwhelmed at 250% Capacity Amid Devastation

Gaza Herald – Hospitals in Gaza City are buckling under catastrophic conditions, operating at 250% capacity as medical staff struggle to cope with overwhelming numbers of wounded and sick, the Gaza Health Ministry warned Friday.

The mass displacement of civilians toward southern Gaza has only worsened the collapse, piling pressure on facilities already depleted of personnel, medicine, and critical equipment. Emergency rooms in the few functioning hospitals are overflowing, with doctors and nurses fighting to save lives with dwindling resources. Blood shortages are severe, putting urgent surgeries at risk.

The ministry described the situation as a “triangle of terror”: hunger, bombardment, and denial of treatment. Indicators of medicine and supply levels are approaching total depletion, pushing Gaza’s healthcare system to the brink of collapse.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza has killed at least 65,141 Palestinians and injured 165,925, mostly women and children. Hundreds of thousands have been forcibly displaced, and famine has claimed 435 lives, including 147 children, leaving the civilian population trapped in an unrelenting nightmare.
