More Americans Recognize Israel’s Actions in Gaza as Genocide, Polls Show

Gaza Herald- A new polls by the progressive research group Data for Progress reveals that more US voters now believe Israel is committing genocide in Gaza than those who do not, a trend mirrored in other recent opinion polls.

According to the findings, 47% of likely voters say Israel’s actions amount to genocide, a sharp increase from 39% in April 2024. A separate YouGov poll shows similar results, with 43% of Americans agreeing that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians, the highest figure recorded since the poll began in January 2024, when just 35% held that view.

The Data for Progress poll further reports that 52% of likely voters strongly oppose Israel’s blockade on food and medical aid to Gaza, while 54% believe the US should place humanitarian assistance to Gaza above supplying Israel with weapons and military support.

These growing numbers reflect a significant shift in US public opinion, as more Americans confront the scale of Israel’s assault on Gaza and reject the policies enabling it. The findings suggest that despite Washington’s continued military and political backing for Israel, the American public is increasingly unwilling to ignore the mounting evidence of atrocities and is calling for urgent action to uphold human rights for Palestinians.
