Mladenov Accused of Pressuring Palestinian Resistance to Advance Israeli Agendas in Gaza

Gaza Herald – Nikolay Mladenov, currently serving as the senior representative for Gaza within the so-called “Peace Council,” has been exerting intense pressure on Palestinian resistance factions in the Gaza Strip in an effort to advance Israeli political and security agendas, Palestinian sources revealed.

According to sources speaking to Al-Araby TV, Mladenov’s actions have raised growing concerns among Palestinian factions, which accuse him of exceeding his assigned role and attempting to impose conditions that could pave the way for a new Israeli military escalation against Gaza.

The sources stated that Mladenov has reportedly linked humanitarian aid and other Gaza-related commitments to the acceptance of Israeli demands, effectively using humanitarian needs as leverage to pressure Palestinian factions on several political and security files.

Local and international reports indicated that these efforts are being promoted under what Mladenov describes as a “new roadmap” for Gaza, presented as an executive mechanism aimed at resolving the deadlock surrounding the second phase of the ceasefire agreement and preventing renewed war.

However, Palestinian factions have reportedly rejected the proposal, describing it as a political maneuver designed to implement Israeli plans in Gaza under the guise of mediation and reconstruction efforts.

According to the reports, the proposed roadmap consists of 15 clauses integrating political, financial, and security tracks, prompting renewed skepticism regarding Mladenov’s intentions and his alignment with Israeli policies.

The controversy intensified after Mladenov reportedly claimed last month that around 600 aid trucks were entering Gaza daily, a statement later denied by Gaza’s Government Media Office, which said only 207 trucks had entered on that day.

Mladenov, a Bulgarian diplomat who previously served as the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process between 2015 and 2020, has long faced criticism from Palestinian and Arab circles, which accused him during his earlier tenure of aligning too closely with Israeli positions.

Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces continue to violate the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on October 10, 2025, through ongoing shelling, shootings, demolition of civilian homes, closure of border crossings, and restrictions on humanitarian aid entering Gaza.
