Gaza Herald- Israeli forces have continued to escalate military activity in the Gaza Strip, 175 days after the ceasefire agreement, with renewed gunfire and artillery shelling targeting eastern areas of the enclave, resulting in several victims and injuries.
A Palestinian man died on Thursday from wounds sustained after being shot by Israeli forces in Khan Younis, southern Gaza. Local sources reported that his body was transferred to Nasser Hospital after he was targeted in the eastern part of the city.
Earlier, a young woman, Rawan Fayad (19), was also killed after being shot by Israeli forces east of Al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza, amid ongoing ceasefire violations.
Three displaced civilians, including a child, were injured as breaches of the ceasefire continued, accompanied by demolitions and escalating attacks in various areas.
Eastern Gaza City, particularly the Al-Zeitoun neighbourhood, came under sustained artillery bombardment, alongside heavy gunfire east of Al-Bureij camp and Juhr al-Dik. Israeli forces also opened machine-gun fire east of Khan Younis and shelled northern Rafah, with intensified bombardment and demolitions continuing overnight.
Strong winds have further worsened conditions, causing many displacement tents in Rafah and Khan Younis to collapse or be blown away, deepening the suffering of residents.
Displaced families expressed frustration over living conditions in tents, calling for alternative shelter, including mobile housing units, to better protect them from harsh weather.
Since 10 October, Israeli forces have repeatedly violated the ceasefire through artillery and air strikes, live fire from military vehicles and naval vessels, as well as demolitions of civilian infrastructure across Gaza.
These violations have resulted in 714 fatalities and 1,940 injuries, with 756 bodies recovered. Overall, since the beginning of the offensive on 7 October 2023, the death toll has risen to 72,289, with 172,040 people injured, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health.
