Gaza Herald – The Gaza Crossings and Borders Authority announced the partial resumption of operations at the Rafah land crossing on Thursday following a recent suspension.
According to a brief statement, 18 Palestinian patients will be permitted to leave the Gaza Strip, accompanied by 33 escorts, under humanitarian arrangements designated for medical cases.
The decision comes after the crossing was briefly reopened on March 19 under the previous mechanism, before being closed again from March 23 until March 25.
Israeli authorities had shut down the crossing amid the escalation linked to the war with Iran, despite its limited and tightly controlled operation at the time, with daily departures not exceeding 45 travelers.
It is worth noting that the Rafah crossing had remained closed for 16 months following the Israeli ground offensive in the city of Rafah during the genocidal war.
