Israeli Strikes Hit Gaza on First Day of Ramadan

Gaza Herald – Israeli forces continue to violate the Gaza ceasefire on the first day of Ramadan, launching coordinated air, land, and sea attacks across multiple areas of the Strip. Artillery targeted eastern neighborhoods of Gaza City, while residential buildings in Beit Hanoun were demolished.

In the south, Israeli airstrikes hit parts of Khan Younis and Rafah, with low-flying warplanes and heavy tank fire striking eastern districts. Families spent the holy day under bombardment, facing acute shortages of food and essential supplies.

The United Nations had previously reported famine conditions in parts of Gaza over recent months.

Since the ceasefire took effect, 634 Palestinians were killed in repeated breaches, including 195 children and 84 women, while 1,630 others were injured.

Since the outbreak of the genocidal war on October 7, 2023, Israeli attacks killed over 72,000 people, injured approximately 172,000, and left more than 8,000 missing. Roughly 90% of civilian infrastructure was destroyed, with UN estimates placing reconstruction costs at $70 billion.
