Gaza Herald – Israeli forces handed over the bodies of 54 Palestinians and 66 boxes containing human remains from Gaza as part of the prisoner exchange and ceasefire arrangements, according to Palestinian health authorities.
Gaza’s Ministry of Health said the bodies arrived at Al-Shifa Medical Complex late Wednesday through the International Committee of the Red Cross. Medical teams began forensic examinations, documentation, and preparations to identify the remains and return them to their families.
Officials stated that the delivery included dismembered remains and body parts, reflecting the extensive destruction caused by months of Israeli attacks. Specialized teams coordinated with legal and humanitarian committees to ensure dignified handling and burial procedures.
The ministry added that a dedicated identification unit had already been activated to determine the identities of previously recovered bodies, calling on families of missing Palestinians to assist in the process and help end months of uncertainty.
Despite the ceasefire, Palestinian officials said Israel had continued to withhold hundreds of Palestinian bodies, including prisoners, women, and children, describing the practice as a serious violation of international humanitarian law.
