Hamas Signals Readiness to Hand Gaza Administration to Technocratic Committee

Gaza Herald – Hamas said it is fully prepared to transfer the administration of the Gaza Strip to an independent technocratic committee and to facilitate its work, as part of efforts to advance the next phase of the ceasefire agreement.

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem urged the United States to compel Israel to fulfill all obligations of the first phase of the ceasefire and move toward implementing the second phase, describing the announcement by US envoy Steve Witkoff as a “positive and important development.”

Qassem said the movement is open to internal Palestinian discussions, including approaches to the issue of resistance weapons, while stressing that Hamas’s immediate priority is launching a genuine relief operation to rescue Gaza’s devastated cities.

He added that Hamas welcomes the formation of the administrative committee for Gaza and is coordinating with mediators to push for opening border crossings, allowing humanitarian aid to enter, and ensuring the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Strip, accusing Israel of attempting to evade the ceasefire terms.

The statements came as Palestinian factions meeting in Cairo voiced unified support for the transitional committee to govern Gaza, calling on international mediators to pressure Israel to halt attacks, open crossings, and enable the committee to assume full responsibilities as part of the ceasefire’s second phase and the path toward recovery and reconstruction.
