Gaza Herald – The Hamas Movement launched a search operation in Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza for the body of an Israeli captive, marking the first retrieval effort carried out in the northern part of the Strip since the genocide began.
Previous searches were limited to eastern Gaza City, the central region, and eastern Khan Younis, areas heavily scarred by Israel’s bombardment and repeated ceasefire violations that have left thousands missing under rubble across the enclave.
A delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross was present at the site. The ICRC maintains that while it does not physically recover remains, it can offer technical guidance during such operations.
The search comes amid a devastated landscape where nearly 10,000 Palestinians remain missing, and recovery efforts are crippled by Israel’s restrictions on heavy machinery, deepening the humanitarian impact of the ongoing genocide.
