Gaza Herald – The execution of two unarmed Palestinians by Israeli forces in Jenin in the occupied West Bank is part of a growing, systematic pattern of extrajudicial killings across all occupied Palestinian territory, Euro-Med Monitor said, warning that these deliberate executions amount to war crimes and form part of Israel’s ongoing genocide.
According to the group, Israeli forces have killed dozens of Palestinians in the West Bank over the past two years after they were already captured or subdued, while data from Gaza indicate that about 9% of all Palestinians killed during the two years of genocide were deliberately executed after being detained or taken into custody.
In the Jenin incident on 27 November, an Israeli special unit raided a home in Jabal Abu Dhahir, then forced two unarmed men who had come out with raised hands back inside before shooting them at point-blank range. Euro-Med says such documented crimes, from Jenin to across the Gaza Strip, destroy Israel’s usual pretexts and expose a policy of execution made possible by international silence and entrenched impunity.
The group is calling on States Parties to the Geneva Conventions and the Rome Statute to take immediate action: support International Criminal Court investigations into the deliberate killing of Palestinians, apply universal jurisdiction to prosecute those responsible, and impose individual and economic sanctions, as well as a full embargo on weapons, security technologies, and dual-use items used in grave violations.
Euro-Med Monitor adds that ending Israel’s illegal occupation and settler-colonial control is essential to stopping these crimes, and says Palestinians must be enabled to exercise their right to self-determination and sovereignty over their land and resources, with full reparations for victims, and real accountability for those responsible for extrajudicial killings, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide.
