Gaza Herald – Gaza’s Civil Defense said Thursday that 50% of its life-saving services have shut down due to the lack of fuel, holding the UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS) fully responsible for delays that could cost civilian lives.
The agency said its teams have struggled for weeks to obtain fuel for the few remaining fire trucks, rescue vehicles, ambulances, and generators needed to clear rubble and save people trapped under destroyed homes.
It said UNOPS has imposed “obstructive and restrictive procedures” that blocked access to needed fuel, creating paralysis across emergency operations and halting rescue teams from reaching thousands of dangerously damaged buildings.
Civil Defense officials urged immediate removal of all restrictions, demanding full and uninterrupted fuel supplies to keep Gaza’s emergency response functioning amid Israel’s ongoing genocide.
