Euro-Med Monitor: One Month After the Ceasefire, Israel Continues Genocide in Gaza

Gaza Herald_ Euro-Med Monitor reports that even one month after the ceasefire in Gaza, Israel continues to commit acts of genocide against Palestinian civilians through a combination of killings, blockade, and structural deprivation.

More than two million Palestinians remain trapped under dire conditions, unable to recover from more than two years of continuous bombardment and systematic destruction. Despite the ceasefire agreement, Israeli forces continue to violate the truce daily with aerial and artillery attacks, gunfire, and targeted destruction of homes and infrastructure, particularly in densely populated areas such as Gaza City and eastern Khan Yunis.

These attacks have destroyed thousands of homes and other civilian buildings, deliberately undermining the foundations of life in the Strip and violating international law.

Since the ceasefire went into effect on 10 October, the Israeli army has killed at least 242 Palestinians, including 85 children, while injuring over 619 others. This equates to an average of more than eight deaths and 20 injuries per day.

Euro-Med Monitor stresses that these ongoing attacks demonstrate a deliberate continuation of Israel’s campaign against Palestinians under the cover of the ceasefire. The absence of international monitoring mechanisms allows Israel to operate with impunity, targeting areas under its control covering over 50 percent of the Gaza Strip, while reshaping the territory to be uninhabitable both now and in the future. The ceasefire, instead of protecting civilians, has become a tool to consolidate control and continue systematic destruction.

Starvation, Displacement, and Humanitarian Restrictions

Israel maintains a policy of collective punishment through systematic restrictions on the movement of people and the delivery of essential goods. Around 70 percent of the aid agreed under the ceasefire has been blocked, and the types of goods allowed in are tightly controlled. While calorie-dense but nutrient-poor products flood the market, essential items such as meat, dairy, and medical supplies are limited, keeping the population in chronic, controlled hunger. The World Food Programme (WFP) has highlighted a 20 percent rise in child malnutrition compared to last year, and routine vaccinations are unavailable for one in five children due to the collapse of healthcare services.

The closure of the Rafah crossing, combined with restrictions on internal movement, has prevented the wounded, sick, and vulnerable from accessing urgent care and has obstructed the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.

Reconstruction efforts remain systematically blocked, leaving homes, schools, and hospitals in ruins. Euro-Med Monitor warns that these policies are not isolated incidents but part of a broader strategy aimed at dismantling Gaza’s geographical and social cohesion. By enforcing displacement and creating uninhabitable zones, Israel is pushing Palestinians toward forced migration while undermining any possibility of recovery or return.

Urgent Call for International Action

Euro-Med Monitor calls on the international community to take immediate and concrete steps to protect Palestinian civilians, ensure the full withdrawal of Israeli forces, and end the blockade of Gaza. All crossings must be opened for people, including the wounded and sick, and for humanitarian aid under the supervision of the United Nations and relevant agencies. Aid must be provided safely, sufficiently, and regularly, including food, medicine, fuel, and other items necessary to restore health and essential services. Israel must be prevented from controlling the quantity or quality of aid or obstructing its delivery.

The organization also stresses the need for the safe return of all forcibly displaced Palestinians to their original homes, rejecting any arrangements that substitute temporary shelters or “humanitarian zones” for full restitution. An international monitoring mission under the UN is urgently required to oversee Israel’s conduct, document violations, and provide a protective presence for civilians and infrastructure. States should halt all military and security cooperation with Israel, suspend arms exports and imports, and take political, economic, and legal measures, including targeted sanctions, until Israel complies with international law.

Euro-Med Monitor urges the full support and enforcement of ICC investigations and relevant International Court of Justice rulings, as well as national prosecutions for individuals responsible for genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity in Gaza. An international mechanism for compensation and reconstruction is needed to ensure redress for civilian victims, rebuild homes, and restore vital facilities without granting Israel control over resources, crossings, or freedom of movement.

The continued silence of the international community, alongside its failure to activate accountability mechanisms, provides Israel with practical cover to perpetuate genocide, albeit in more concealed forms. Without urgent intervention, Gaza risks permanent fragmentation, forced displacement, and the entrenchment of long-term injustice.
